I pull out a small Soviet flag. "Um, what?"
America grabs it out of my hand and says, "Russia, not cool! Firstly, it was disbanded, like, forever ago! Secondly, my closet has a max of, like, six people! Thirdly, really?! At MY party?!" He sighs. "Just get in the closet dude." Ivan smiles, and walks into the closet. I start after him, but America grabs my arm. "Be careful, okay? If you yell or something, I'll unlock the door for you."
I smile mischievously. "Don't worry, Alfred! I was Soviet too, remember?"
"What?!" He lets go of my arm, wiping his hand on his jacket.
I laugh. "I was joking America!" I walk into the closet and shut the door behind me. A second later I hear the lock click into place.
Through the darkness I hear, "That would have been nice, da?"
I turn toward Ivan's voice. "What?"
"It would have been nice if you were Soviet."
"Oh." I blush, and I'm glad he can't see me. "Yes, it would have been nice to be on the winning side for once."
He chuckles. "We were quite strong!...We were."
I feel terrible for him. "You miss them, don't you?"
"It's been...lonely. Very quiet. Maybe that's why I like you so much _____. You're always so energetic and lively."
I smile. He's always so nice to me....Wait. What did he just say?! "Y-you like me?!"
He laughs. "Why do you sound so surprised?"
Why wouldn't I be?! "Well, you-I-can't-why-you like me?"
"Da. Remember? I told you so myself twenty seconds ago."
"Well, I just never thought you would ever like me back!" Crap! Of all the stupid things to say!!
"You like me too?" Now that my eyes have adjusted, I can see that he looks just as surprised as I feel.
I laugh nervously. "How could I not?"
"Not very many people like me anymore..."
Must stop dragging up bad memories!! "Well, I like you."
"Um, _____, would you like to, uh, become one?"
I blush. "You mean, like, be your ally?"
"Uh, yeah. That."
"Sure!" He wraps me in a hug, and I look up into his eyes. He smiles down at me, and leans over me so that our lips meet. Seconds later, Alfred flings open the door.
"EWW! COMMIE COOTIES!!!"
